The flotation is constructed of heavy duty aluminum shell. Chinook uses more rugged material to form the pontoon shells .125" or .188” marine grade 5000 series alloy aluminum. These pontoons are filled with coast guard certified 2lb. density poly-urethane foam. This insulating foam material makes the pontoons stronger, and provide a barrier to water intrusion making them more reliable and safer, even if punctured.
Chinook's pontoons use a shallow “V” pontoon design. This design provides more flotation than conventional round pontoons of the same size. Additional benefits include increased fuel economy, higher speeds, and faster planing.
